Socrative

What it does

Socrative runs quizzes and quick questions that students answer on any device, live or self-paced, in a teacher's room, with automatic grading and reports. Socrative AI can write questions from a prompt, turn class content you already use into questions, convert existing quizzes, and generate questions for a topic, skill or standard. Quizzes can also be imported from Excel. Students join with a room code and don't need an account; teachers can also set up rostered rooms. It's made by Showbie Inc.

Teachers who want fast formative checks (bell ringers, exit tickets, quick quizzes) with automatic grading and a free plan for small classes.

Price

Free plan: 5 quizzes, 1 room, 50 students per activity, 30-day report history, and weekly AI limits (15 AI question generations). Essentials is USD 10 per seat/month (USD 120 billed annually) with unlimited quizzes and 5 rooms. Pro is USD 16.67 per seat/month (USD 200.04 billed annually) with 30 rooms and 300 students per activity. Free for students (per socrative.com/pricing, checked 2026-10-31).

Limitation

The free plan's 5-quiz and 50-student caps fill up quickly, and AI use is capped per week on every plan. Check AI-written questions before you use them. Its privacy policy (updated July 9, 2025) says it never directs ads to students or uses student data for marketing, and collects a student's name only when an activity asks for one; confirm it fits your district's data agreement.
