Flint
AI tutoring activities built from your own materials, with live session monitoring and rubric grading.
- What it does
- Flint is an AI platform for schools. Teachers chat with its assistant (Sparky) to build an activity from uploaded PDFs, docs, slides or Google Drive/OneDrive files, set the grade level, time limit and deadline, and assign it to a class. Students work through it with the AI, which by default gives hints and guiding questions instead of answers unless the teacher allows it. Teachers watch sessions live, get an alert when a student is stuck, can read the full conversation, and get a session analysis (strengths, areas to improve, a suggested follow-up). Rubric grading can be overridden. A public library has teacher-shared activities to remix.
- Best for
- Teachers who want students to practice or review with an AI tutor they set the rules for, and see what each student struggled with afterward.
- Price
- Free for up to 80 users (teachers or students). School licenses: up to 150 users $3,000/yr, up to 250 users $4,000/yr, up to 500 users $6,500/yr; over 500 custom (per flintk12.com/pricing, checked 2026-10-22).
- Limitation
- It's an online student-facing platform, not a print-first quiz maker, so students need devices and accounts. Students under 13 can use it only after the school's technology waiver is reviewed with Flint for COPPA; Flint says schools usually roll it out in grade 3 and up. Check your district's data agreement before adding students.
