Topic: Text structure: chronology, comparison, cause/effect, problem/solution (RI.4.5). Adjust the settings, then copy the prompt.

Print lesson plan

Paste the lesson plan the AI gives you, check it, then print. It prints black on white with no menus or buttons, and the student handout starts on its own page.

Planning notes for this lesson

Prerequisite skills to check: text features and search tools such as headings and key words (RI.3.5); the logical connection between sentences and paragraphs, such as comparison, cause/effect and sequence (RI.3.8); main idea and key details (RI.4.2).

Key vocabulary: text structure, chronology, sequence, compare, contrast, cause, effect, problem and solution, signal words.

Warm-up idea: Give pairs four short paragraphs about the same topic, such as frogs: one in time order, one comparing frogs and toads, one about why frogs are disappearing, one about how a town protected a pond. Ask: same topic, so why do these feel so different?

Exit ticket idea: Students read two short informational passages, name the overall structure of each, underline two signal words that prove it, and sketch a matching graphic organizer such as a timeline, Venn diagram, cause-effect chain or problem-solution chart.

Always check the AI's plan and answers before you teach.
