Print lesson plan

Paste the lesson plan the AI gives you, check it, then print. It prints black on white with no menus or buttons, and the student handout starts on its own page.

Planning notes for this lesson

Prerequisite skills to check: describing the logical connection between sentences and paragraphs (RI.3.8); explaining how an author uses reasons and evidence to support points (RI.4.8); finding two or more main ideas and their key details (RI.5.2).

Key vocabulary: point, reason, evidence, fact, example, statistic, support, author, informational text.

Warm-up idea: Read a short paragraph arguing that recess should be longer, with three reasons mixed in with one sentence that does not help the argument at all. Ask: which sentences actually convince you, and which one could be cut?

Exit ticket idea: Students read a short informational article, fill in a point-reason-evidence chart for two of the author's points, and cross out one detail that supports neither point, explaining why.

Always check the AI's plan and answers before you teach.
